SSB (Dis) Connects The Donor Sibling Registry welcomes all families affected by the upcoming closure of Seattle Sperm Bank Connects this coming January 2027. Since 2000, we've provided a permanent, secure, independent platform for donor-conceived people, parents, and donors from facilities worldwide to safely find and connect with biological relatives. In their official statement posted to the platform, Seattle Sperm Bank cited a few specific reasons behind the decision: Evolving Data Privacy Laws: They said navigating complex, shifting global privacy requirements (such as GDPR in Europe) made maintaining an in-house communication platform difficult. (The DSR is GDPR compliant). Resource Reallocation: The sperm bank stated they want to retire the forum to focus their internal staff and technological resources entirely on core clinical operations. (Profit) Security Standards: They noted that protecting the sensitive personal data shared on their site was no longer viable under their existing infrastructure. (The DSR spends a lot of time and money to ensure that our site is secure.) We invite Seattle Sperm Bank families to create their posting or search our database of over 106,000 members to maintain or build both sibling and donor connections (without fear of commercial platform shutdowns).

For this donation we had an egg and sperm donor that are not in a relationship (so the embryo is 'created' rather than being from some else's IVF cycle). The female donor # 423122 and is from the California IVF facility (California Conceptions program) who was a softball player on the UCD team, and the male donor # 9852 and is from the Seattle sperm bank. The embryos were created at Cal IVF (Cal Conceptions). The male donor is technically an open donor named Duke, but I believe through the process at Cal Conceptions he generally remains anonymous in terms of our ability to contact him.
