Welcome to the DSR Blog!
For a while now I have wanted to have a central DSR area for updates, i.e. upcoming news, policy, DSR logistics, comments on media and the industry, etc. Not everyone participates on the two Yahoo groups that offer DI related discussions (only about 30% of all DSR members), and not everyone checks the “News” or “Articles” pages here on the DSR. Hopefully, folks will utilize this area to check in on what’s new and upcoming that relates to donor families and issues. I don’t always express my opinions or thoughts on the Yahoo groups, (although sometimes I just can’t help myself) so this will be an area where I can chime in on the discussions and issues of the day. Those of you who know me know that I am passionate about certain issues such as the needed regulation in the DI industry and disclosure- the donor conceived’s right to know the truth. In addition, I receive many emails each day from folks in donor families trying to work through and figure out how to proceed in situations that are in uncharted waters. Ryan and I have also had to maneuver through some of these situations relating to searching for and finding biological family, so we are intimately familiar with much of what other DSR members are going through and trying to figure out.
