In their official statement posted to the platform, Seattle Sperm Bank cited a few specific reasons behind the decision: Evolving Data Privacy Laws: They said navigating complex, shifting global privacy requirements (such as GDPR in Europe) made maintaining an in-house communication platform difficult. (The DSR is GDPR compliant). Resource Reallocation: The sperm bank stated they want to retire the forum to focus their internal staff and technological resources entirely on core clinical operations. (Profit) Security Standards: They noted that protecting the sensitive personal data shared on their site was no longer viable under their existing infrastructure. (The DSR spends a lot of time and money to ensure that our site is secure.) We invite Seattle Sperm Bank families to create their posting or search our database of over 106,000 members to maintain or build both sibling and donor connections (without fear of commercial platform shutdowns).
