I am a single mother by choice and joined the DSR right after my son was born. I didn't feel a strong need for connection to the donor or siblings, but I wanted to be sure that I had all the information I could if he started asking questions or expressing a need for for connection. Through this site, I learned of other places parents and siblings were connected, and I now know the donor and 15 half-siblings! We have been proceeding slowly (all but the donor's children are currently under the age of 10) but I am so thankful for the DSR for making this connection possible. Now I know that I won't need to rely on the sperm bank to get the information my son has a right to.
